WHAT IS IAWS?
IAWS IS COMMITMENT WITH ANIMAL WELFARE AND THE HIGHEST INFORMATION GUARANTEE AND TRANSPARENCY TO CUSTOMERS
"Welfare Commitment Certified" is the certification seal created by INTERPORC in order to guarantee good practices accomplished in animal welfare, animal health, biosafety, handling and traceability, through all white pig food chain in Spain.
Only those products from a pig farm where commitment with animal welfare is COMPLETE will get the "Welfare Commitment Certified" seal.
ANIMAL WELFARE MEASUREMENTS
IAWS establishes measurements to maintain animal welfare through the whole pig life in order to ensure best practices from birth to slaughter.
SOLID SCIENTIFIC EVIDENCE
The Regulation has been elaborated keeping in mind the European and Spanish regulations just as principles indicated by OIE, and it is also guaranteed by a high level independent Scientific Committee. The Regulation includes the general requisites from community and national regulations and other more demanding ones which signify an extra in areas related to animal health, biosafety, housing, food safety, traceability and environment.
THE HIGHEST ANIMAL WELFARE STANDARDS
IAWS applies the highest animal welfare standards used internationally, attending to the 5 freedoms and the 12 General Criteria of Animal Welfare fixed by the World Organization for Animal Health (OIE).
AUDITS THROUGH THE WHOLE FOOD CHAIN
Controls at the farm, slaughterhouses and industry are done in order to ensure that the agents which obtain the "Welfare Commitment Certified" seal accomplish strictly with all parameters established in our demanding Regulation.
FULL TRANSPARENCY
The Regulation has been elaborated by INTERPORC in cooperation with certification bodies, administration,
scientifics and animal welfare experts, tested and validated by animal rights organizations.

IAWS certification seal allows customers to recognize a product elaborated with the highest guarantees in terms of animal welfare counting on detailed information at each step of the food chain.
